Welcome!

The mission of the GTFWC  is friendship, scholarship, and service. We hope that you will enjoy discovering the programs, community service projects and interest groups we offer. Membership is open to all who want to join us in supporting the Georgia Tech community.

In addition to the scheduled events listed in the directory, we will announce fun pop-up events on our Facebook page. There is so much to do in Atlanta, and it’s always more fun with friends.  To keep up to date on all our activities and club news, please become a member of our private Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/GTFWC/

Please consider making a donation to our scholarship fund. Last year your contributions allowed us to award five scholarships totaling $10,000 to students who have a parent employed at a Georgia Tech. This year we hope to increase the amount of scholarships we award.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events this academic year.

Go Jackets!

logo wren's nest

The tour is full. If you signed up, please remember to join us on Wednesday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. for Storytelling and Soul Food!

Confirmed registrants for this program should arrive at the Wren’s Nest at 10:15 AM, as our group tour will begin promptly at 10:30 AM. Free parking is available adjacent to the museum.

Lunch after (optional) at Paschal’s Restaurant, 180-B Northside Dr., Atlanta, GA 30313

Hostess: Jennifer Lux. FREE for Members. Guest/non‐members $9 / $8 for 65+.

Our day begins at 10:30 a.m. with a group tour of the Wren’s Nest. This museum, located in Atlanta’s West End, was the home of Joel Chandler Harris. Harris was one of the most popular American writers in the 19th and 20th centuries. His printed works, such as Uncle Remus: His Songs and His Sayings, gave voice to African-American folklore. Our group will be treated to a performance by a professional storyteller who will make memorable characters such as Br’er Rabbit and Br’er Fox come to life.

After the tour, members may attend the optional lunch at Atlanta’s soul-food fixture, Paschal’s Restaurant. You can try menu items such as fried green tomatoes, collard greens, and “Paschal’s Famous 1947 Fried Chicken,” and wash it all down with a glass of fresh strawberry lemonade! The restaurant is located 1.5 miles from the Wren’s Nest in Castleberry Hill.
